3 Words
Over the weekend Chris Brogan’s post about choosing 3 words for a focus in the new year rather than making resolutions inspired me.
I loved this idea because I’ve never been a resolutions person. I set goals and create action plans, but resolutions always seemed unrealistic and unattainable. They were wishes rather than true goals. I think that’s why they fade by about January 14th (or even as early as today!)
My Mantra
So this year I’m adopting Chris’tradition of setting 3 words as my mantra for the year. Here’s what I’ve come up with:
Own –This year I will take take 100% responsibility for all aspects of my life including;financial, health, spiritual, professional, relationships and personal growth. I want to be present for the moments of my life, not just waiting until vacation to pick my head up and look around. Owning also means creating more balance, being grateful for what is and creating more harmony in the moment.
Inspire –This year I want to inspire as many people as I can through my writing, teaching and speaking. I want to create programs,books,e-books and blogs that spark something in another person to say,“ah- I never thought of it that way.” I also look to be inspired this year. I want to create new opportunities for myself,my family and my business.
Grow –In 2012 I wan to grow in all aspects of my life. This goes hand in hand with owning my life. I also want to grow Life Simplified into a business that supports myself,my staff and the people we serve. Finally I want to grow my awareness and become more generous. In the last quarter of 2011,I experimented with releasing my own brakes of “I’m too busy”and found I had time to brighten more people’s worlds with the same 24 hours. I intend to do more of that in 2012.
What Are Your Three Words?
These three words already are starting to make a difference in the new year. Have you chosen your three words? If so,I’d love to hear what they are.
