We believe you already have a system that works for you (otherwise you wouldn’t be in business, right?). We’ll use your own system as a basis to integrate social media into your daily activities.

Adding new “to do’s” to your calendar always feels uncomfortable. When thinking about social media, it can be overwhelming.

This approach is effective because of three things:

1. We start with your current time management system.
2. We phase in social media as a short daily activity to create the habit.
3. We focus on only what’s realistic with your schedule today.

By focusing on these three areas, you are able to slowly integrate social media into your daily activities, producing better results.

What Do We Cover In the Workshop?

To make things as realistic as possible, we focus on basic steps you can take on a regular basis to grow your social media presence. Here’s a taste of what you’ll learn in the course.

• Sources to find content that’s interesting to your customer (and not just what you want to sell)
• How to create a content library so you’re not always searching for something to post.
• What’s realistic for you to commit to in your calendar.
• How to post consistent status updates (and why that’s important).
• What you can do in 10 – 20 minute chunks of time.
• Tips to staying focused during your social media time.
• Tools you can use to automate some of your communication.
• How to set a 30 day goal that’s realistic and has checkpoints along the way.

Here’s Where The Rubber Hits The Road

Once you cover the basics, then you’ll pull out your calendar and develop a 30 day action plan. You’ll choose 1-3 platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google + or your blog. You’ll develop a set of tactics and action steps you’ll commit to over the 30 days.

Then you’ll write it down! We provide you the planning tools and then you can transfer the information easily into your own planning system.

Oh yeah I forgot one thing.

In your plan you will commit to a 30 day goal. It doesn’t have to be a huge goal, but it will be something specific and achievable within the 30 days. Then you’ll commit to 3 smaller goals that will help you achieve your 30 day goal.

These are all written down on one easy Action Planning Sheet so you can access them any time. We even advise you print just that sheet and post it in your office while you’re working toward your 30 day goal.

That’s great, but who’s going to hold me accountable?

Changing a habit can be challenging. You’re so used to doing things a certain way. To ask your brain to do it a different way can take a little convincing. That’s why we’ve built tools to help you. Besides the Action Planning Sheet, you’ll also receive:

A monthly open calendar so you can sketch out your commitments based on your own calendar.
Weekly Action Sheets where you’ll plan the actions you’re going to take and how much time it will take to do them.

This course is more about self management than time management. With the tools provided and weekly mini goals, you will hold yourself accountable.

Course Prerequisites

This course is for small businesses serious about using social media to grow.  To get the most out of this home study course, you need to be active on at least one social network for your business or have a business blog.

The other prerequisite is more subtle, you need to want to make this change. In other words, you are committed to doing the work.

Why are we being so picky?

It’s simple. We want you to be successful.

Although this would be a good workshop for beginners to social media, we don’t cover a lot of the mechanics of social sites. We have other workshops that can help with that. The assumption is you already know how to use the sites you’re on well enough to commit to using them to market your business.
