Gratitude Unlocks The Fullness of Life

Life Simplified: Christmas in the early days

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion to clarity…….Gratitude makes sense or our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beattie

Kick off the holidays with Gratitude

A friend of mine posted this the day before Thanksgiving.  I’m lovingly borrowing it.  I think it is the perfect way to kick off this Holiday Season and the Thirty Days of Holiday Affirmations.

Gratitude, for me, is the first component of the holidays.  Without Gratitude the holiday’s become a time of endless errands, tight budgets, family frustrations and missed opportunity.

My gift of Gratitude

With Gratitude the whole world shifts.  As the quote says, once you are truly grateful, you have enough and even more.  I remember the first Christmas without my mother.  Traditions dramatically shifted in our family that year.  My sister took on the brunt of the holiday celebrations not only hosting Christmas Eve (when we celebrate), Christmas Dinner with friends plus putting up my father and I as house guests.

All I wanted for that year was to be able to contribute.  My fledgling business wasn’t generating a lot of disposable cash, especially in December.  By daily affirming my gratitude about the small things, I was able to contribute exactly what I wanted to the holiday preparations, buy gifts for my family and even have a little left over.

Tonight, be grateful

This is the time of year when want seems to be felt more than ever.  Tonight, after perhaps a full day with family yesterday at Thanksgiving or a day full of shopping today, take a moment and give thanks for everything in your life.  It’s a great way to kick off the holiday season from a sense of abundance.

I am grateful for all that is in my life.
